Green Skills Academy Launched to Support Green Skills Across the North

RPS helped support the launch of the Green Skills Academy last week in Trafford, Manchester. The academy was officially opened by Major of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham. Graham Rothwell, CEO, RPS ,was also invited to speak at the launch event to talk abut our role in the development of the academy.

Our sector is facing a green skills shortage- but, by working in collaboration across the GMCA and beyond, we can help to plug the green skills gap, create jobs for local people and provide new training opportunities. The Green Skills Academy in Trafford Park, is part of a pan-northern effort to lead the UKs transition to Net Zero. The first of its kind in the North, The Green Skills Academy will play a critical role in Greater Manchesters ambitions to reach Net Zero carbon as early as 2038 and UK-wide by 2050.
The Academy will house the latest green technology equipment in order for businesses and individuals to gain the knowledge and skills which will place Greater Manchester at the forefront of emerging technologies.

They will also provide a range of exciting courses specialising in emerging green technologies. From Solar Photovoltaic to Wind Turbine technology, support a greener way to develop careers.
