RPS were appointed to supply and install Shared loop Ground Source Heat Pumps (slGSHP) on behalf of Together Housing at Harrogate Court, Doncaster.

Together Housing manage over 38,000 homes in the area offering social housing, supported housing and shared ownership. As part of their Carbon Reduction strategy Together Housing are investing in the efficiency of their housing stock. This includes investing in GSHPs as well as Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar PV and insulation.

What is Harrogate Court?

Harrogate Court is a supported living facility for over 55’s – Comprising of 50 one and two bedroom apartments. Offering privacy and independence with communal facilities to support socialisation with dedicated support staff.  Each apartment includes a living room, kitchen and en-suite.

The Delivery

The existing plant room at Harrogate Court had come to the end of its operational life. RPS Replaced pipework which was in poor condition and removed the existing heat source.

Harrogate Court remained operational throughout the contract which required careful planning and communication with both staff and residents to ensure the works were completed smoothly and with minimal disruption. We installed Kenza heat pumps in the apartments

Communication

All residents were provided with:

  • An introduction pack with the appointment of their works

  • Clear communication on the change of their heating

  • Pictorial guides on how to use the heat emitters and thermostatic controls

  • The residents were shown how to use the new system by the engineer on completion

Challenges

The facility was fully operational throughout requiring us to supply temporary heaters, and temporary hot water for the duration of the works maintaining the essential services whilst the existing systems were replaced, this maintains the comfort of the residents and minimised disruption whilst the works were ongoing.

Completion

The project was successfully completed delivering an upgraded heating system for all 50 apartments. Providing Together Housing with a more energy efficient heating solution supporting their commitment to reducing carbon emissions

WORKS

Ground Source Heat Pump

"This was a complex job made possible by a genuine partnership. Boreholes, ground array design, room-by-room heat loss calculations and 50 residents living in the building throughout — that only works when the client is in it with you. Together Housing were on site with us weekly and treated it as a joint effort from day one."
