RPS were appointed to deliver Retrofit works For One Manchester including Positive input ventilation and Environmental monitoring. Tendered through Procure Plus RPS were appointed as sole contractor, delivering the programme on a full supply and fit basis to 300 occupied homes.
One Manchester own and manage over 12,000 homes across Manchester and procured the ventilation and monitoring programme to tackle the root causes of damp, mould and condensation in their stock.
PIV is an energy-efficient system that improves indoor air quality by continuously introducing filtered fresh air into a home, reducing condensation and mould. It works by creating a positive internal air pressure that forces humid air and airborne pollutants out through natural leakage points like trickle vents and door gaps.
The environmental monitoring gives One Manchester insights into condensation risk, damp and mould, air quality and heat loss in the properties. Smart sensors are placed in key rooms and constantly measure humidity, indoor temperature and CO2 levels.
· Removes indoor pollutants
· Eliminates moisture
· Replaces reactive repairs
· Protects building fabrics from long term damp
All social housing providers are legally bound to tight timescales to investigate and rectify damp and mould under Awabbs law. By installing PIV and environmental monitoring One Manchester are providing a preventative ventilation systems that addresses the root cause.
Each home now benefits from continuous, filtered background ventilation, and One Manchester has live environmental data across the programme properties — enabling early intervention on condensation, damp and mould risk rather than reactive repairs.
